Bitcoin’s bull run showcases resilience, outperforming major global assets amid liquidity concerns. Analysts project the rally could persist through 2025, marking a significant phase in the cryptocurrency’s journey.
Bitcoin Defies Global Trends With Historic Rally
According to Cointelegraph, despite falling global liquidity and a lack of price momentum in most major global assets, Bitcoin reached the historic $100,000 milestone.
On December 6th, a long-awaited milestone in crypto history was reached as Bitcoin broke through the $100,000 mark.
Even when other key global assets have been performing poorly, this historic peak has occurred anyway. While the price of oil plummeted 6.3%, the S&P 500 dipped 1%, and gold fell 1% in the past month, the price of Bitcoin rose by 32%.
Bitcoin’s Surge Outpaces Major Global Assets
Analysts expect the current bull surge to persist until the end of 2025—known as the "euphoria stage" in crypto trader lingo—and Bitcoin's rally versus other global assets is a positive indication for Bitcoin investors.
With the long-term holder net unrealized profit/loss (NUPL) indicator in place, Bitcoin has officially entered the euphoric stage.
In a post on December 7th, Quinten François, co-founder of WeRate, speculated that this may prolong Bitcoin's run until the end of 2025:
NUPL Metric Signals Bitcoin’s Euphoria Stage
The net unrealized profit loss (NUPL) is a metric that measures the overall profitability of the Bitcoin network. It is calculated by subtracting the unrealized loss from the total profit earned by Bitcoin holders.
James Coutts, chief crypto analyst at Real Vision, stated in a December 6 X post: Another encouraging indicator for Bitcoin's trend is that the all-time high happened against a backdrop of worldwide liquidity.
Liquidity Concerns and Bitcoin’s Resilience
There is some indication that Bitcoin's gain may be temporary, since the global M2 liquidity, which is a measure of all cash and short-term bank deposits, may have reached a bottom.
Global Macro Investor's founder and CEO Raoul Pal predicts that Bitcoin will reach a "local top" of $110,000 by January 2025, citing its association with the liquidity index.
