Tech giant IBM has announced that it is collaborating with other providers to develop enhanced solution capabilities for its blockchain-based IBM Sterling Supply Chain platform.
Last Oct., IBM announced the IBM Sterling Supply Chain Suite, embedded with Watson AI and IBM Blockchain, which will help organizations make their supply chains smarter and more efficient. It has now revealed that it is developing enhanced solution capabilities in order to quickly solve returns, omnichannel and logistics challenges to improve customer experience.
“To create the seamless and personalized experience customers expect and provide a true first-mover advantage, companies should modernize supply chains on top of open platforms that can harness technologies such as AI, blockchain, IoT, and hybrid cloud. Our relationships in this space can help our clients to make this shift more quickly,” said Jeanette Barlow, VP, Offering Management and Strategy, IBM Sterling.
According to a press release, Salesforce, Publicis Sapient, IBM Services, project44 and Flooid are developing solutions that will help accelerate retailers' digital transformation initiatives at scale using the open Sterling supply chain platform.
The enhanced solution capabilities that are being developed include a Connector that will integrate the IBM Sterling Supply Chain Suite with Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Service Cloud and Marketing Cloud, allowing retailers to deliver consistent and personalized shopping moments by blending the online and offline shopping experience. This connector is being jointly developed by IBM Services, Bluewolf and MuleSoft.
Publicis Sapient, on the other hand, is focusing on returns optimization and plans to extend IBM Sterling AI capabilities for returns with a control tower blueprint and practice. This is expected to help retailers simplify consumer returns orchestration, while bringing products into available-to-promise inventory at the desired location.
project44, the developer of Advanced Visibility platform, is seeking to integrate its global carrier network with the IBM Sterling Supply Chain Suite, to help clients obtain more accurate shipment ETAs, identify vital up and down stream impacts to their inventory and orders, and quickly respond to relevant supply chain events.
IBM is one of the leading companies in the blockchain space and has been playing a pivotal role in taking this industry forward. Some of the notable blockchain initiatives of the company include IBM Food Trust, shipping tracking solution TradeLens, and Responsible Sourcing Blockchain Network (RSBN), among others.
