Former PayPal executive and Bryan Cave Partner join crypto lending startup Cred

Crypto lending startup Cred has announced the appointment of former PayPal executive and Bryan Cave Partner to its executive team.

As per a press release, financial regulatory lawyer Dan Wheeler is joining the company as General Counsel and financial industry veteran Joe Podulka as Chief Financial Officer.

Wheeler will bring his extensive experience spanning 22 years to Cred. He has represented banks, fintech companies, credit unions, and other financial institutions during their most important challenges and opportunities. Wheeler was a partner in the international law firm Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP, where he led the firm’s fintech practice team.

He has also chaired the Financial Institutions Committee of the California State Bar and has served as the President of the San Francisco Bank Attorneys Association.

Cred will further benefit from Podulka’s broad finance and analytic experience. He was CFO, VP Finance at Hearst Communications where he helped drive the digital transformation for one of San Francisco’s most iconic media brands. He has also spent 11 years at eBay/PayPal in a variety of roles in the US and abroad.

Previously Libra Credit, Cred is a decentralized lending ecosystem that facilitates open access to credit anywhere and anytime based on the Ethereum blockchain. It is one of the founding members of the Universal Protocol Alliance alongside Uphold, Blockchain at Berkeley, and Brave. The initiative aims to help distributed ledger technology and cryptocurrencies achieve mainstream adoption.
