Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, widely known as CZ, has reignited discussions about Bitcoin scarcity after suggesting that even millionaires may eventually struggle to own a full BTC.
In a recent X post, CZ highlighted Bitcoin’s limited supply of 21 million coins. By August 2026, more than 20.07 million BTC had already been mined, leaving only around 4.4% of the total supply yet to enter circulation. However, the actual amount of Bitcoin available to investors could be significantly lower.
CZ noted that an estimated 10% to 20% of existing Bitcoin may be permanently lost, inaccessible, or locked due to forgotten private keys and other issues. Since lost BTC cannot be replaced, these coins effectively reduce the supply available on the market.
The Bitcoin supply argument becomes even more notable when compared with the growing number of wealthy investors. Trader Quinten Francois pointed out that the United States alone has approximately 23.6 million millionaires, far exceeding the number of Bitcoin that will ever exist.
Responding to the discussion, CZ suggested that owning one full Bitcoin could eventually become difficult even for millionaires. His comments have also revived interest in his previous long-term Bitcoin price prediction of $1 million.
Earlier, CZ said Bitcoin could potentially reach the $1 million mark around the 2033 market cycle, although he stressed that the projection was only a possible scenario and not a guarantee. The outlook depends heavily on continued crypto adoption, investor demand, and broader market conditions.
Other prominent Bitcoin bulls, including Cathie Wood, have also predicted that BTC could eventually reach $1 million. Mexican billionaire Ricardo Salinas Pliego has similarly expressed strong confidence in Bitcoin’s long-term potential.
While Bitcoin scarcity remains a key argument for a bullish BTC price outlook, limited supply alone does not guarantee higher prices. Investors should still consider market demand, macroeconomic conditions, geopolitical risks, and the cryptocurrency’s volatility before making investment decisions.
