XRP Rally Faces Pressure as Derivatives Traders Turn Bearish

XRP has maintained much of its recent bullish momentum following a major price breakout, but new derivatives data suggests the rally could be approaching a critical turning point.

The broader cryptocurrency market has staged a strong recovery, adding more than $183 billion to total altcoin market capitalization within just a few days. That represents an increase of roughly 20%, highlighting renewed investor appetite for assets beyond Bitcoin.

XRP has emerged as one of the biggest beneficiaries of the altcoin market rebound. According to analysis based on CryptoQuant data, the cryptocurrency surged approximately 70% during the same period, strengthening speculation that XRP could be among the assets leading the latest altcoin rally.

However, the sharp XRP price increase has also attracted substantial speculative trading, particularly in the derivatives market. While spot-market activity remains relatively bullish, signals from Binance indicate that derivatives traders are becoming increasingly cautious about further upside.

CryptoQuant data shows XRP net taker volume on Binance recently registered its strongest selling pressure since the beginning of 2026. Sell-side dominance reached approximately $96 million, indicating that aggressive sellers have gained considerable control in the derivatives market.

The development could represent a warning sign for XRP's recent price rally. Heavy taker selling generally suggests traders are actively selling into market orders rather than waiting for higher prices, potentially reflecting expectations of a correction or increased profit-taking following the token's rapid gains.

At the same time, XRP derivatives activity continues to expand. Open interest for XRP on Binance has climbed approximately 14.8%, showing that traders are opening more leveraged positions as volatility and speculation increase.

Rising open interest combined with strong selling pressure could make XRP particularly sensitive to sharp price swings. While the cryptocurrency's spot-market momentum remains supportive, increasing bearish positioning in derivatives suggests traders should closely watch whether XRP can maintain its recent gains or face a pullback after its roughly 70% surge.
