MoonPay Adds Kamino Lending to AI-Powered PayBox

MoonPay Adds Kamino Lending to AI-Powered PayBox.

MoonPay has integrated Solana-based lending protocol Kamino into its PayBox platform, allowing eligible users to lend crypto or borrow against digital asset collateral using conversational AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude.

The integration expands PayBox’s decentralized finance capabilities by enabling users to issue natural-language instructions to supply tokens to Kamino and earn yield. Users can also borrow USDC, a dollar-pegged stablecoin, against crypto deposited as collateral.

Kamino is one of Solana’s largest DeFi lending protocols, with roughly $1.3 billion in total value locked and about $1 billion in active loans, according to DefiLlama.

Rather than introducing a new lending product, MoonPay’s integration gives users an AI-powered interface for accessing Kamino’s existing services. Transactions can require passkey approval each time, while users may also authorize AI agents to execute transactions autonomously within predefined limits.

The move represents a broader evolution in agentic crypto activity. AI agents have primarily been used for frequent, low-value payments involving data, computing resources and digital services. Coinbase-developed x402, for example, has processed around $50 million across approximately 165 million payments.

Integrating Kamino takes the concept further by allowing AI software to help manage lending, borrowing and leveraged positions. That capability also introduces additional financial risks because cryptocurrency collateral can fluctuate sharply.

If collateral falls below Kamino’s required threshold, a loan can become eligible for liquidation. Liquidators may then repay outstanding debt and receive part of the borrower’s collateral. AI execution errors could also become costly when autonomous agents are given authority over funds.

MoonPay launched PayBox in July with support for payments, token swaps, blockchain bridging and yield opportunities through Aave. Adding Kamino extends the platform deeper into the Solana DeFi ecosystem as AI-powered crypto tools increasingly move from simple payments toward credit and capital management.

The Kamino integration is not available in the United States, United Kingdom, European Union or Australia. Availability may also differ depending on the cryptocurrency and local jurisdiction.
