Improving access to cryptocurrency, a pilot project involving automated teller machines that process bitcoin transactions are now available in convenience stores in Arizona and Nevada. The project is courtesy of DigitalMint and the convenience store chain it partnered with is Circle K. Together, they brought about the installment of bitcoin ATMs in over 20 of the chain’s convenience stores.
This is basically the largest expansion of DigitalMint’s influence since it was founded and this also makes it the largest operator of its kind in the US, the press release notes. Both DigitalMin President & Co-Founder, Marc Grens and Circle K Stores Inc. Category Manager, Joel Konicke expressed excitement regarding the partnership.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with a respected organization like Circle K,” Grens said. “This partnership opens the door for massive expansion of Bitcoin access to new markets around the globe.”
“We are very happy to add DigitalMint as a partner and we look forward to working with their team," Konicke said. “Partnering with DigitalMint allows us to provide our customers with seamless access to Bitcoin, at a very reasonable price.”
For some context, DigitalMint already has ATMs in over 25 states via 250 machine and even in-person tellers, Coindesk reports. Each customer can conduct transactions of up to $20,000 worth of bitcoin purchases within a 24-hour period. Each transaction will come with a 12 percent charge, though, there is a possibility of reducing the fee rate.
These ATMs are also intended to make the purchase of bitcoin or even other forms of cryptocurrency easier. Simply going up to the ATMs allows for seamless crypto purchases and trading. With regards to purchasing bitcoins, customers will have to it through cash because credit and debit cards are not currently supported. For those interested in doing so through a bank wire, there is a $5,000 minimum when going with this option.
