The Ethereum Foundation revealed that more than $2.46 million in grants will be allocated to develop Serenity or ETH 2.0.

As per a blog post, in recent months, the foundation together with Protocol Labs and ConsenSys has “granted substantial awards to leading client development teams currently tasked with delivering long-standing multi-client testnets as development approaches the launch of Phase 0.”

The funds will be distributed to nine companies and researchers. The recipients of the grants include Harmony, which has been awarded $189,000 for Harmony beacon chain development; Prysmatic Labs $725,000 for Prysm client development; Status $500,000 for Nimbus client development; Sigma Prime $485,000 for Lighthouse client development; Chainsafe $217,500 for Lodestar light-client and javascript development; Whiteblock $184,000 for ETH2.0 testing; Status $150,000 for nim-libp2p development; and Dmitry Khovratovich $10,000 for producing report on security of Legendre PRF.

The foundation has also allocated 5 ether bounties (or 1,000 units of USD-pegged decentralized stablecoin DAI) for any recommendations that will successfully be used into the Phase 0 ETH 2.0 spec before the chain is launched.

A series of bounties for the Legendre pseudo-random function, which is expected to be a part of the forthcoming proof of custody scheme in Phase 1 of ETH 2.0, are also offered. It will also reward winners of the STARK-friendly hash (SFH) challenge, which aims to evaluate the security of the existing SFH functions.

Just recently, the Ethereum Foundation also launched a Korean version of its official website and a large-scale translation program for Ethereum.org. Over 15 languages were chosen based on the search volume for Ethereum and related terms, as well as traffic to websites related to Ethereum.
