Microsoft Excel has reportedly added the Bitcoin symbol as its currency option to its software, according to several posts on Reddit and Twitter.

Users of the spreadsheet creation software can now add or use the Bitcoin symbol to record or account financial data.

Reddit user “thepowerx” was the first one to crack the news along with a receipt of the claim.

But Invest in Blockchain revealed a more interesting post in which one Microsoft employee allegedly posted an image showing Excel providing real-time Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Ripple prices.

Microsoft is yet to comment on the added feature to its program, reveal if it is coming to the entire Microsoft Office package, or clarify whether or not the screenshot is legit.

However, Microsoft is no stranger to the Bitcoin and cryptocurrency community. In fact, the company recently launched the first decentralized infrastructure implementation that is built directly on the bitcoin blockchain. The open source project, dubbed as Ion, works with underlying mechanisms of how networks communicate with each other.
