The Seoul Medical Center, a major hospital in South Korea, has announced its plans to launch a blockchain-based platform to improve its medical services, CoinTelegraph reported referring to a report from local news outlet Daily Medi.
The hospital has collaborated with the Korean Ministry of Science and ICT for the “Smart Hospital” project which aims to improve the accuracy of data and reduce processing times.
“Seoul Medical Center will build an automated, personalized, integrated medical information platform by providing electronic prescription delivery, certificate issuance, and insurance claims through the blockchain-based system,” Daily Medi said (as translated by CoinTelegraph).
The project, expected to launch in April, is among the 2019 blockchain-based public project development plans issued by the Korea Internet and Security Agency (KISA), a sub-organization of the South Korean Ministry of Science and ICT, in December 2018.
Last month, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has announced that it will invest 1.2 trillion won ($1.07 billion) in blockchain and fintech startups by 2022 via an investment fund.
More recently, the Ministry of Information and Communication announced its plans to establish a Blockchain National Participation Evaluation Team in order to share the process of public-private blockchain pilot project development with the public.
