PUBLISH has announced its first strategic partnership with the major Korean IT media outlet Inews24.
Launched last October, PUBLISHalliance is a consortium of media enterprises, technology providers, and academic institutions focused on the development and proliferation of PUBLISHprotocol – a blockchain media protocol and platform for the next generation of blockchain-powered newspaper newsrooms. PUBLISHprotocol is operated by PUBLISH, Inc., a registered company in the South Korean island of Jeju.
Inews24, dubbed the IT CEO’s favorite publication, is a leading tech-related digital-native news outlet in Korea. The company is also behind Joy News 24, an entertainment, culture, and sports media outlet launched in October 2018.
Under the agreement, the companies have expressed their intention to expand their partnership in a wide range of areas such as contents and technical cooperation.
"Having contributed so much to the Korean IT industry, it is an honor to be able to work with Inews24," Sonny Kwon, PUBLISH CEO said in a statement. "With the help of Inews24, we expect PUBLISHalliance to continue growing, opening up a new chapter for the newspaper industry in Korea.”
As part of the agreement, Inews24 also intends to join PUBLISHalliance’s fact-checking initiative and become a so-called ‘Super Publisher.’
Derived from the concept of a “supernode” in blockchain, a Super Publisher is responsible for co-operating a consortium blockchain, allowing PUBLISHprotocol to run in a permissioned yet distributed manner.
Commenting on the partnership, Inews24 CEO Lee Changho said:
"Although there are a number of blockchain media projects, PUBLISH is unique in the sense that it also offers media outlets a CMS solution to help facilitate token adoption. The initiative has a lot of potential."
