Strategy Chairman Michael Saylor is expanding his long-standing Bitcoin-focused vision with a new Digital Finance Stack that gives Tether’s USDT stablecoin a significant role in everyday transactions.

The framework divides digital assets according to their financial functions. At one end sits Bitcoin (BTC), positioned as long-term “digital capital” and a defensive store of value. At the other are stable fiat-linked instruments designed for payments and routine financial activity.

Saylor’s inclusion of USDT marks a notable development given his reputation as one of Bitcoin’s most prominent advocates. Under the proposed architecture, Bitcoin is not expected to handle everyday transactions. Instead, USDT serves as the primary transactional gateway, offering price stability and faster settlement for regular payments.

Between Bitcoin and stablecoin payments, Saylor places a range of structured financial products developed around Strategy’s Bitcoin holdings. One is STRC, the company’s Bitcoin-backed preferred stock designed as a relatively stable, income-generating credit instrument. Another component, described as SR-strcUSX, is a hybrid token intended to combine fiat-like stability with yields associated with credit markets.

At the top of Saylor’s Digital Finance Stack is Digital Equity, which connects the payment, credit and capital layers. The model envisions fintech companies generating revenue by operating financial products across these layers, while equity investors gain exposure to the resulting earnings.

The proposal comes as Strategy faces pressure surrounding its enormous Bitcoin treasury. The company reportedly sold 6,948 BTC worth approximately $432.5 million this summer to fund dividends and preserve liquidity, breaking with its previous “never sell” approach. The move occurred while STRC traded below its $100 par value.

Strategy CEO Phong Le has indicated that the company expects to resume net Bitcoin purchases by the end of 2026. Meanwhile, Saylor’s latest framework suggests a broader objective: turning Strategy’s 840,447 BTC reserve from a largely passive treasury asset into the foundation of a wider digital finance ecosystem combining Bitcoin, stablecoins, credit products and equity.
