Stellar (XLM) and XRP are showing a notable price divergence as the two payments-focused cryptocurrencies face different levels of buying pressure and technical resistance.

TradingView data shows XLM gaining momentum after breaking above its 50-week moving average, a closely watched technical level. Stellar moved through the barrier on increased volume and established a trading range around $0.2123 to $0.2151. The breakout could put the next local resistance near $0.2227 in focus if buying demand continues.

XRP, however, has struggled to achieve the same technical breakthrough. The cryptocurrency encountered strong selling pressure around its 50-week moving average between $1.55 and $1.5730. Sellers prevented XRP from extending its rally, producing a long upper wick on the weekly chart while momentum indicators began flattening.

Despite XLM's stronger short-term technical setup, XRP remains significantly larger by market capitalization. XRP ranks fifth among cryptocurrencies with a market value of approximately $97.62 billion and trading volume of about $7 billion. Stellar ranks 16th with a $7.41 billion market cap and roughly $424.06 million in trading volume.

That leaves XRP's valuation more than 13 times larger than Stellar's, suggesting XLM's advantage is currently concentrated around its technical performance at the 50-week moving average rather than overall market dominance.

Network activity may also be contributing to the difference. Stellar reportedly has about $3.33 billion in real-world asset capital distributed across 21,124 active addresses. It also processes approximately $8.94 billion in daily stablecoin volume, potentially generating recurring demand for XLM to cover network fees.

By comparison, the XRP Ledger reportedly has $456.64 million concentrated across 264 wallets in the cited dataset, with substantial assets held in custodial storage.

For now, XLM has successfully cleared a major technical barrier, while XRP remains near resistance around $1.55. A decisive XRP breakout above the 50-week moving average could alter that divergence, while failure to clear the level may keep sellers in control.
