XRP is consolidating near the $1.08 level as steady 'institutional demand' and continued spot ETF inflows offset broader technical pressure, leaving the token caught between durable structural support and persistent regulatory uncertainty.
As of Wednesday ET (July 30), XRP was trading at $1.0888, up 1.99% on the day but down 1.84% over the past week, according to CoinMarketCap. XRP’s market capitalization stood at roughly $68 billion, while 24-hour trading volume was about $1.28 billion, reflecting active but cautious positioning after a recent pullback.
Technically, XRP is holding above the psychologically important $1.00 handle. Analysts typically view initial support around $1.06, while overhead resistance is clustered between $1.09 and $1.11—an area where the 50-day and 100-day moving averages converge. With price now sitting just below that band, traders are watching a breakout attempt as a near-term inflection point for direction.
On the demand side, the spot ETF complex has reached a notable milestone. Citing SosoValue data, U.Today reported that cumulative net inflows into XRP spot ETFs surpassed $1.5 billion by late July. CoinDesk also noted that XRP ETFs have recorded net inflows for four consecutive months, underscoring a sustained bid from longer-horizon allocators even as spot price momentum remains muted.
TradingKey attributed XRP’s modest rebound to the rotation of institutional capital and incremental 'liquidity inflow' into the ETF ecosystem. Separate research focused on Latin America has highlighted XRP as an unusually resilient major asset, pointing to growing real-world usage of the XRP Ledger (XRPL) in cross-border payments and remittances—use cases that can support baseline demand independent of short-term trading sentiment.
Still, technical indicators are flashing caution. TradingKey said both MACD and Williams %R are currently signaling selling pressure. A more striking warning comes from longer-term metrics: CryptoRank reported that XRP’s monthly RSI has dropped into one of the deepest oversold zones on record, even more extreme than conditions seen during the March 2020 COVID-era crash. XRP remains around 70% below its January 2025 all-time high of $3.65, a drawdown that some analysts view as a potential reversal threshold but one that may require fresh capital to stabilize and sustain any recovery.
Regulation remains the central overhang limiting upside momentum. TradingKey pointed to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s ongoing appeal in the Ripple case as a key factor restraining institutional confidence. Market participants continue to price in the risk that an adverse ruling at the appellate level could complicate XRP’s regulatory posture in the U.S., potentially widening the range of outcomes investors must consider.
Adding to the uncertainty, Ripple’s planned stablecoin, RLUSD, is still awaiting clarity on timing for approval by the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS). RLUSD is broadly viewed as an important pillar in Ripple’s ecosystem expansion plans, but the absence of a concrete regulatory timeline has encouraged a wait-and-see stance across parts of the market.
Separately, South Korean authorities disclosed a consumer protection case tied to a fraudulent XRP-themed product. Seoul police said they arrested three individuals accused of operating a fake XRP staking platform that promised fixed monthly returns. Investigators alleged the group collected roughly 3.4 million XRP from 71 victims, and on-chain tracking suggested total circulation tied to the scheme reached approximately 27.3 billion won (about $19 million). Authorities said they froze about 17.3 billion won (around $12 million) worth of XRP and USDT held at overseas exchanges within days of receiving complaints. While the case is not viewed as a direct market-moving factor for XRP, it has renewed attention on scam risks that often intensify during periods of heightened retail interest.
For now, XRP appears to be balancing opposing forces: 'ETF-led institutional demand' providing downside support, while regulatory risk and a dense technical resistance zone cap near-term upside. Absent a clear catalyst, market participants see the token remaining range-bound between roughly $1.06 and $1.09, with attention focused on developments in the SEC appeal and any update on RLUSD’s NYDFS approval timeline.
