Binance Research found that Gen Z investors in emerging markets are showing a disciplined approach to stock investing, with Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) leading the list of first-time equity purchases among the platform's youngest users.

The findings focus on Binance's "Next Gen Users," defined as Gen Z customers in emerging markets with less than $2,000 in equity assets under management. According to the report, Nvidia is the most common first stock purchased, reflecting strong interest in artificial intelligence and semiconductor companies.

Micron Technology (NASDAQ: MU) ranks second with 8% of first trades, while Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA), Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL), and the Nasdaq-100 ETF also appear among the most popular initial investments.

Binance Research said young investors are building focused portfolios rather than chasing speculative trends. On average, about 60% of their equity holdings are allocated to the Information Technology and Communication Services sectors, with roughly 26% concentrated specifically in semiconductor companies tied to the AI industry.

The report also revealed that Next Gen Users account for 13% of Binance Direct Stocks customers, while Gen Z represents 44% of the platform's overall user base for the product, making it the largest demographic. Geographically, 95% of Gen Z traditional finance (TradFi) users come from emerging markets, compared with more than 90% for every other generation on the platform.

Binance Research challenged the perception that younger investors trade aggressively through crypto-native platforms. Instead, platform data suggests they trade less frequently than older users. Next Gen Users average 2.6 trades per day, compared with 3.0 trades among other investor groups.

Leverage usage also remains relatively conservative. Leveraged ETFs account for only 5.9% of Gen Z trading volume, while Baby Boomers record a higher 8.1% share.

Despite their measured approach, Gen Z investors have become a major growth driver. Binance estimates the cohort has generated about $80 billion in TradFi trading volume in 2026, with activity expanding at an average monthly growth rate of nearly 24%, underscoring the increasing influence of young investors in global equity markets.
