This surge comes as Dogecoin approaches a major adoption milestone. The number of DOGE holders currently stands at 7.97 million, just 30,000 short of the 8 million mark. This places Dogecoin as the third most widely held cryptocurrency in the world, trailing only behind Ethereum, with 148.38 million holders, and Bitcoin, with 55.39 million.
