Cardano co-founder Charles Hoskinson has confirmed that Input Output’s Lace wallet will soon support XRP, marking a significant milestone for both Cardano and Ripple communities. Developed by one of the key entities behind Cardano, the Lace light wallet debuted on the mainnet in April 2023, initially allowing users to stake ADA directly.

Since launch, Lace has received multiple updates, introducing features such as dApp connectivity, hardware wallet support, and, most notably, multi-wallet and multi-account capabilities in June 2024. In a major shift towards multi-chain functionality, the Lace team rolled out Bitcoin support in April 2025 via version 1.22. This update enabled users to store and manage BTC on a testnet, laying the foundation for future Bitcoin-based DeFi integrations on Cardano.

Adding to its accessibility, Lace expanded its browser compatibility by launching a Firefox extension. The plugin offers seamless wallet creation, staking, and DeFi access for Firefox users, enhancing Cardano's reach in the crypto ecosystem.

Hoskinson’s support for XRP marks a notable change from his previous tensions with the XRP community. In December, he publicly backed Ripple’s USD stablecoin (RLUSD) and announced intentions to bring the asset to Cardano. His latest endorsement includes backing the idea of Ripple acquiring a stablecoin firm, further aligning with Ripple’s ecosystem.

XRP integration into Lace reflects Cardano’s broader strategy to embrace interoperability and attract users beyond its native ADA token. As Lace evolves into a multi-chain hub, the upcoming XRP support is set to boost both utility and adoption.

This strategic expansion positions Cardano’s Lace wallet as a competitive player in the evolving crypto wallet landscape, especially amid rising demand for cross-chain compatibility.
