Bitcoin-Backed STRD Preferred Stock Debuts on Nasdaq with 10% Yield

Strategy (MSTR) has officially launched trading of its latest bitcoin-backed security, STRD, on the Nasdaq. The 10% Series A Perpetual Stride Preferred Stock (STRD) debuted on Wednesday, closing the session slightly higher with a 0.24% gain.

STRD offers a fixed annual dividend of 10%, the highest among Strategy's preferred stock offerings, including STRF and STRK. However, unlike its counterparts, STRD is non-convertible and non-cumulative, meaning dividends are not guaranteed and will not accrue if missed—introducing additional risk for investors. Despite this, the attractive yield and lack of management fees are expected to appeal to long-term, yield-seeking investors.

Strategy plans to raise up to $1 billion by offering 11.76 million shares at $85 each. After fees and expenses, the company expects net proceeds of approximately $979.7 million. The capital will be used for general corporate purposes, including further bitcoin accumulation, aligning with Strategy’s pro-Bitcoin positioning.

Investor confidence appears strong, with internal support highlighting momentum. Board member Jarrod Patten disclosed his purchase of 5,000 STRD shares. Patten also holds 28,000 MSTR Class A common shares and 10,000 STRF shares, reinforcing insider belief in the company's direction.

The launch of STRD comes at a time when market watchers are closely eyeing macroeconomic indicators like the U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI), with speculation growing around its potential impact on Bitcoin’s price trajectory. As institutional interest in bitcoin-backed financial products increases, STRD adds another high-yield, crypto-linked investment option to the market.

This latest offering strengthens Strategy’s capital markets presence and reflects growing investor appetite for innovative, bitcoin-integrated financial instruments.
