Cryptocurrency users in France now have the option of using their tokens to pay for their online food orders. A food ordering website recently announced that clients of the platform can now use cryptos when paying for orders from over 15,000 restaurants in the country.

Just Eat, a major online food ordering platform in France, announced that it is now accepting cryptocurrency payments for its clients’ food orders, according to Bitcoin.com. This means that food lovers can now use their tokens as payment when they order from over 15,000 restaurants in France that are affiliated with the platform, further enhancing crypto adoption in the European country.

The Just Eat group, which has a presence in 13 countries, has been recently acquired by Takeaway.com. As the new parent firm has already been accepting Bitcoin (BTC) payments for some time, it’s also to be expected for the recently acquired subsidiary to do the same.

Indeed, Just Eat’s France website has recently undergone a makeover after its acquisition by Takeaway.com. Aside from sporting a new look, the site also announced the addition of new payment methods.

“Payment methods have been expanded and now include Apple Pay, Google Pay (via our Just Eat app) and bitcoin, in addition to other payment methods if offered by restaurants (credit card, Paypal, cash, checks or meal vouchers),” Just Eat wrote on its site.

Clients who wish to pay their orders with cryptocurrency must choose the “Bitcoin” option before clicking order. The system will then redirect users to the Bitpay website where they can choose the type of token they want to use for their payment, as well as their wallet or exchange. Aside from Bitcoin (BTC), Bitway supports ETH, XRP, BCH, USDC, PAX, BUSD, and GUSD.

Once their crypto payment is successfully processed, users will be brought back to the Just Eat site where a message saying “The order will arrive in our system and will be sent directly to the restaurant” will appear. Just Eat assured its clients that there will be no additional fees for Bitcoin payments.

Just Eat operates in Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, Ireland, Norway, Spain, Switzerland, and the U.K. and has 240,000 restaurant partners worldwide. The company also has a stake Ifood, which operates in Brazil and Mexico.
