Revolut Launches EURR Euro-Backed Stablecoin.

Fintech giant Revolut has expanded its presence in the cryptocurrency market with the launch of EURR, its first euro-backed stablecoin. The new digital asset is designed to give eligible customers another way to transfer and use euros across supported blockchain networks.

Revolut said EURR will maintain a one-to-one peg with the euro, meaning each EURR is intended to have a value equivalent to €1. The stablecoin provides users with onchain access to euros while connecting traditional currency payments with the growing digital asset ecosystem.

The launch could make it easier for eligible Revolut customers to move euro-denominated value between cryptocurrencies, external wallets and supported blockchains. By introducing EURR, Revolut is broadening its crypto services beyond trading and payments as demand for regulated stablecoins continues to grow.

Stablecoins have become an important part of the cryptocurrency industry because they allow users to transfer assets on blockchain networks without being exposed to the same level of price volatility associated with cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. Euro-backed stablecoins are also gaining attention as European regulations provide clearer rules for digital asset issuers and service providers.

Revolut is launching EURR through Digital Assets Europe Ltd, its entity regulated as a Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) crypto-asset service provider by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC).

The EURR stablecoin itself is issued by Bridge Building S.A., which operates as a regulated electronic money institution and crypto-asset service provider under MiCA. The company is supervised by Luxembourg's Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF).

The regulatory structure gives EURR a foothold in Europe's increasingly regulated cryptocurrency market. MiCA has established common requirements for crypto companies operating across the European Union, including rules governing certain stablecoins and digital asset services.

With EURR, Revolut is seeking to strengthen the connection between its traditional fintech operations and blockchain-based financial services. The launch also adds another regulated euro-pegged asset to the expanding stablecoin sector as financial companies increasingly explore onchain payments and digital currencies.
