South Korea’s NC Dinos Launch NFT Ticketing With Naver Wallet

NC Dinos introduces Naver-powered NFT ticketing for baseball games to enhance security and digital fan experience in South Korea.

South Korean baseball club NC Dinos is rolling out a new ticketing system based on non-fungible tokens (NFTs), marking the first time the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) has adopted Naver’s ‘Npay Wallet-based NFT ticket’ for a dedicated seating section—an effort aimed at tightening ticket security while making the game-day journey more digital and seamless.

The club said Tuesday UTC that it will operate a new ‘Naver Zone’ at Changwon NC Park starting with its home game against the Doosan Bears on Aug. 18. The zone will cover 196 table seats in Section 117 and is positioned as more than a simple naming-rights partnership, integrating booking, payment, ticket issuance, and entry into a single flow built on Naver’s platform ecosystem.

Under the system, fans can purchase tickets via Naver, pay with ‘Npay’ for potential point accrual and redemption benefits, and receive their tickets as NFT-based assets stored in the ‘Npay Wallet.’ The ticketing format is designed to reduce risks associated with ticket forgery and ‘unauthorized resales’ by enabling digital asset custody and management through the wallet infrastructure.

Access to Naver Zone ticket sales is available to Naver and Npay members, with purchases capped at four tickets per account. Fans can reach the ticketing page through a banner in Naver Sports’ baseball section or by searching “NC Dinos” on Naver and navigating from the club information page. Payments are processed through Npay’s one-click method, with additional point incentives offered through Npay Wallet-related promotions, according to the club.

Naver’s Web3 wallet, tied to a user’s Naver ID, is positioned not only as a storage solution for digital assets such as tickets but also as a fan engagement layer. The wallet includes a topic-based open community feature called ‘Channels,’ and a ticket-holder-only ‘ticket verification room’ that allows verified attendees to share updates, cheer messages, and post-game reactions even after purchase—an approach that blends access control with community building.

On-site experience is also being adjusted to match the digital ticketing model. Naver Zone customers will be able to enter through a dedicated line at Gate 3 of Changwon NC Park, aiming to reduce friction at the entrance by pairing NFT issuance with a tailored access route.

Tickets for the Aug. 18–19 home games will go on sale at 3 p.m. local time on Aug. 13 (2 a.m. UTC). After that, sales will follow the club’s regular schedule, opening six days before each game.

The initiative expands on a broader sports marketing partnership between NC Dinos and Naver that began with an MOU signed in 2024. Since then, the two sides have collaborated on campaigns such as Naver’s in-person attendance challenge and new media content projects. The Naver Zone, the club said, is intended to connect professional baseball more tightly with digital platforms while offering a more convenient and modern way to attend games.

“As fans’ viewing habits rapidly shift toward digital-first experiences, we wanted to actively adopt new technologies and services to expand the fan experience,” said NC Dinos CEO Lee Jin-man. He added that the Naver Zone initiative lays the groundwork for a more convenient reservation system for baseball fans visiting Changwon NC Park, and that the club plans to continue working with partners to improve the overall spectator environment.

While NFTs have often been associated with collectibles and speculative trading in crypto markets, their use in ticketing has increasingly been framed as a practical application—focusing on authentication, traceability, and controlled access. NC Dinos’ deployment suggests that Web3 tools in Korea are gradually moving from experimental pilots toward consumer-facing infrastructure, particularly where ‘identity-linked wallets’ and anti-fraud features can deliver immediate benefits without requiring fans to navigate complex blockchain workflows.

The club said it intends to keep refining its fan experience through digital technologies and partnerships, positioning the program as a step toward a new standard for attending professional baseball in Korea.
