Malta Enterprise, a government agency focused on attracting inward investment and supporting enterprises in Malta, has become the first partner for the T-Systems Blockchain Ecosystem.

Just recently, T-Systems, a subsidiary of German telecom giant Deutsche Telekom, had announced that it will offer German Blockchain Ecosystem (GBE), a Blockchain as a Service marketplace, to its business customers, starting next year. The marketplace will provide secure, compliant and rapidly deployable blockchain services.

Malta Enterprise has now signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with T-Systems to offer Blockchain Ecosystem services for companies setting up their blockchain project in Malta.

“This collaboration with T-Systems will give Malta a further competitive advantage over other jurisdictions while adding more value to the already established Maltese blockchain ecosystem,” Kurt Farrugia, CEO of Malta Enterprise, said (as quoted by Malta Today).

“Companies using T-System’s services will have a certification for their project by the Malta Digital Innovation Authority (MDIA). The relationship with T-Systems will continue to build Malta’s reputation as a solid blockchain jurisdiction.”

The MOU includes a provision of an enterprise blockchain platform as part of the Malta Innovation Hub, which will support the Ethereum, Hyperledger, and Corda DLT platforms. Also included is a provision of a validator service, allowing Mata-registered companies to rapidly deploy validator nodes on some of the largest and most significant proof-of-stake blockchains in production.

The collaboration will also focus on joint marketing and training activities, including seminars in key European cities to provide a rapid blockchain adoption path to interested companies. It will also support comprehensive solution audits recently announced by the Malta Digital Innovation Authority.

Just recently, Microsoft Innovation Center (MIC) partnered with blockchain startup æternity to support the growth of blockchain technology in Malta. æternity is the second Microsoft Innovation Center partners after Harvest Technology.
