Trust continues to be one of the biggest obstacles preventing mainstream cryptocurrency adoption, according to industry leaders speaking at Consensus 2026 in Miami. Representatives from the National Cryptocurrency Association, Circle, U.S. Bank and ChangeNOW agreed that simplifying user experience and improving transparency are critical for bringing more people into the crypto space.
Ali Tager of the National Cryptocurrency Association said research consistently shows that many potential users avoid digital assets because they find the industry confusing and difficult to understand. He explained that technical jargon, misinformation and overly complex systems remain major barriers for non-crypto holders entering the market.
Executives at the event emphasized that trust in crypto is not created through technical explanations alone. Britt Cambas of Circle stated that users cannot develop confidence in a product within seconds if the experience feels overwhelming. Instead, companies must focus on reducing complexity and creating clear, user-friendly platforms that help consumers feel secure when interacting with digital assets.
Rachel Castro of U.S. Bank noted that trust is fundamental in financial services and can be damaged very quickly. She added that rebuilding customer confidence after trust is lost often takes far more time and effort. This highlights the importance of transparency, reliability and strong customer relationships within the cryptocurrency industry.
Panelists also stressed the growing importance of customer support and real human interaction in web3 platforms. Pauline Shangett of ChangeNOW explained that users are more likely to trust crypto companies when they feel there are real people behind the platform who can provide assistance when needed.
Speakers at Consensus 2026 agreed that crypto adoption depends heavily on education, accessibility and communication. They concluded that the industry must prioritize simplicity, usability and trustworthy customer experiences to encourage wider adoption of blockchain technology and digital assets worldwide.
