Hayden Davis, CEO of Kelsier Ventures and a key figure behind the Libra cryptocurrency, has been accused of attempting to influence Argentine President Javier Milei through his sister, Karina Milei. According to La Nacion’s February 18 report, Davis allegedly offered payments to Karina in exchange for the president's support of the Libra token. A leaked text message purportedly from Davis claimed, “I send $ to his sister and he does whatever I say.” The offer was reportedly rejected by an unnamed crypto investment firm executive.

Davis has denied these allegations, stating he has no record of the message and refutes making any payments to the Milei siblings. CoinDesk reported Davis also dismissed claims of owning or selling Libra tokens, despite its peak market cap of $4.5 billion before crashing 95%.

Karina Milei, Argentina’s presidential office general secretary, is considered one of President Milei’s closest advisers and has accompanied him on official trips. The president, facing legal scrutiny for allegedly promoting the Libra token, argued in a February 17 interview with Todo Noticias that he merely “spread the word” and had no direct involvement in its launch. He emphasized his good faith and the need for clearer ethical guidelines.

The controversy has intensified scrutiny on Davis and Kelsier Ventures, adding to the turbulence surrounding the Libra token. While the allegations remain unproven, the situation underscores the growing intersection of cryptocurrency and politics in Argentina.
