Crypto Analyst Henrik Zeberg Warns of X Impersonation Scam

Macroeconomist and Bitcoin commentator Henrik Zeberg has issued a scam alert, warning followers about a fake account impersonating him on X (formerly Twitter). Zeberg shared a screenshot of the fraudulent profile, noting that the scammer had slightly altered his username by adding a single character—a common tactic to deceive unsuspecting users.

This isn’t the first time Zeberg has been targeted by impersonators. The fake account, which has under 1,000 followers, even accused the real Zeberg of being a scammer. In contrast, Zeberg’s verified account boasts over 177,000 followers, helping users easily distinguish the original from the copycat. Followers are advised to remain vigilant and double-check account details before engaging with posts or links.

The warning from Zeberg comes amid a surge in crypto-related scams on major platforms. Binance cofounder and former CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) also raised alarms about two recent cyberattacks. The first targeted CoinMarketCap (CMC), which was previously acquired by Binance, leading to user losses of around $19,000. CZ confirmed that CMC would compensate the affected users.

Shortly after, another breach affected CoinTelegraph’s ad system, which had been compromised with malicious code. CZ emphasized that hackers are now focusing on information and news platforms, urging users to be extra cautious, especially when using wallet connect features.

As crypto scams become increasingly sophisticated, users are encouraged to verify sources, avoid suspicious links, and stay informed through official channels. With major figures like Zeberg and CZ speaking out, the crypto community is reminded once again of the importance of cybersecurity awareness.
