Polymarket is expanding deeper into collectibles with a growing lineup of Pokémon card prediction markets, allowing traders to speculate on whether popular cards and sealed products will rise or fall in value.
The contracts use ungraded pricing data from Collectr, a collectibles portfolio and pricing app. More than a dozen Pokémon markets are already trading on Polymarket, with new contracts appearing as older ones settle.
One example centers on the Mega Evolution Promos Squirtle card, numbered 039. Traders can buy Up or Down positions on whether its ungraded price closes above $28.23 on August 31. The Up probability currently stands at 39%, falling 11 percentage points from around 50% when the market opened.
Other Polymarket Pokémon contracts feature Charizard ex, Pikachu ex, Mega Gengar ex, and Bulbasaur. Traders can also speculate on sealed Pokémon products, including booster boxes and the Celebrations Ultra Premium Collection.
Sentiment is mostly bearish. Celebrations carries only a 22% probability of gaining, while Bulbasaur is an exception at 64%. Mega Gengar ex has generated the most activity, with approximately $2,300 in trading volume.
The cautious outlook follows a cooling Pokémon secondary market, where collector interest has shifted toward newer releases. However, trading volumes remain modest, generally ranging from hundreds to a few thousand dollars per contract.
The expansion reflects Polymarket's broader push into pop culture prediction markets. During 2026, the platform expanded beyond politics and cryptocurrency into sports and collectibles. Its markets now include CryptoPunks floor prices, Pudgy Penguins, Banksy artwork, auction records, and other cultural assets.
Pokémon cards fit the prediction-market model because prices change frequently, public pricing data is readily available, and collectors overlap with crypto-focused retail audiences.
Still, regulatory scrutiny is increasing. Baltimore recently sued Polymarket and Kalshi over allegations of operating unlicensed sportsbooks, while the New York City Council has investigated prediction-market platforms.
For now, Pokémon trading volumes suggest experimentation rather than widespread adoption. If activity grows as contracts continuously refresh, however, Pokémon cards could give Polymarket a recurring market category that does not depend on elections or major sporting events.
