Bitcoin Faces Critical Resistance as Traders Await Key U.S. Economic Data

Bitcoin is approaching one of its most important resistance levels of 2026 as investors prepare for a major macroeconomic week. After recovering strongly from its April lows, the leading cryptocurrency is now struggling to maintain momentum below the crucial 200-day moving average near $81,000. Market analysts view this rejection as a significant technical signal that could determine Bitcoin’s next major move.

Recently, Bitcoin failed to sustain a breakout above local highs and lost its short-term ascending support trendline. Following this pullback, BTC returned to the important support area between $76,000 and $77,000, where the 50-day and 100-day moving averages are currently positioned. Buyers are attempting to defend this range and prevent further downside pressure.

Technical indicators suggest growing uncertainty in the market. The Relative Strength Index (RSI), which had climbed steadily during Bitcoin’s recovery rally, has now cooled to neutral territory. Despite the slowdown, Bitcoin’s overall market structure remains cautiously bullish as long as the cryptocurrency stays above the mid-$70,000 support zone.
