With the market rally, Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), and other cryptos have already caught the attention of celebrities and athletes. For instance, seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady revealed that he invested in crypto and that he thinks digital currencies are here to stay.

In a pre-recorded interview with FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, which was shown on CoinDesk Consensus 2021 forum on Thursday, Brady revealed that he started investing in crypto last year. “I definitely have, you know, really the last year I’d say,” Brady said. However, he did not reveal which crypto he bought.

He even revealed that the topic of cryptocurrency is being regularly discussed in his team. “It’s funny in our quarterback room, one of my coaches has been on it for eight, nine months so we talk about it basically every day, the prices of the different tokens, how the space is doing,” Brady added. “It’s definitely something that’s on all of our minds because we’re very interested, we’re learning more and more about these emerging markets.”

Brady recognizes that there will always be volatility in the crypto market. Despite their sometimes huge price fluctuations, he is confident that crypto is here to stay.

“I’m a big believer in it,” he said. “I don’t think it’s going anywhere. I think absolutely there’s going to be volatility.”

Brady sees a rapidly evolving financial landscape where cash is being used less and less. “How we pay for things now is very different from how we paid for things when I was a kid,” he said, according to CNBC. “At the end of the day it’s transactions and how they’re happening between people in the space of three to four feet … it’s not exchanging dollar bills anymore, it’s passing along technology.

Last month, Brady launched Autograph, a non-fungible token (NFT) platform. “The more I learned about crypto and blockchain technology, I really wanted to be a part of building a great platform that could create opportunities for myself, other artists, other entertainment brands to create great collectibles,” he said.

“It’s really the next generation of interaction between celebrities and their fans or great brands and people who love those brands,” Brady added. “Our goal with Autograph is to create a great platform for athletes, organizations, digital creators, musicians to launch their own drops and provide great experiences for people who really support them the most.”
