After deleting several crypto-related videos from its platform, YouTube has now admitted to an “error” on their side, Cointelegraph reported.
The video streaming giant recently resorted to deleting crypto-related content citing violation of its “sale of regulated goods policy.”
YouTuber Carl The Moon (@themooncarl), one of the several YouTubers that was affected by YouTube’s recent maneuver, shared YouTube’s response via a tweet.
“Hey there, this was an error on our side during the review process – your video should be reinstated and strikes resolved. Let us know if you're seeing otherwise!” @TeamYouTube said.
Carl The Moon further confirmed to Cointelegraph that his warning/strike has been removed along with the strikes of “most of the other censored YouTubers.” Other affected YouTubers including Omar Bham and Chris Dunn also confirmed via Twitter that their strikes have been removed.
However, Carl The Moon seems to have lost trust in YouTube and said that he will try to “decentralize” his audience.
Decentralization is the key
“The biggest thing I have learnt as a Youtuber is to not trust Youtube,” Carl The Moon told Cointelegraph.
Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao recently said that this incident has highlighted the need for a blockchain-enabled censorship-resistant social media platform. His idea was welcomed by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, while Bloq co-founder Jeff Garzik called out Block.one’s Voice project.
“This is a good example of a short term setback, but probably good in the long term. Will let new platforms emerge with better freedom. People will create content and post them elsewhere,” Zhao said in a tweet.
Commenting on the incident, Justin Sun, TRON CEO and Founder, tweeted: “Posting your content through #BTFS and @BitTorrent. It will exist on internet forever and be available anytime anywhere!”
