Stockholm-based startup Bitrefill has raised $2 million in a late seed round, led by Coin Ninja with participation from litecoin maker Charlie Lee, Fulgur Ventures, and BnkToTheFuture, according to CoinDesk.
As per the report, the company that offers cryptocurrency gift cards plans to the proceeds to expand its reach to other markets outside the U.S. and Europe and launch new products.
The Block reported that the firm will hire more people for its main headquarter.
Founded in 2014, Bitrefill has serviced more than 130,000 customers worldwide, according to its website. Currently, the company offers different gift cards from major names such as Amazon, Best Buy, and PlayStation to over 170 countries.
“We see it as a big token of trust that investors from the Bitcoin and broader cryptocurrency community have chosen to put their money behind us and support us in our growth journey,” Sergej Kotliar, Bitrefill’s founder and CEO, said.
Meanwhile, blockchain startup Ripple has recently opened an office in Zurich, Switzerland, to see its native token XRP to institutional investors.
