Web browser Opera has announced its plans to soon add support for TRON’s TRX and other TRC-standard tokens within its browser.

The company introduced the Crypto Wallet to the Opera browser for Android in December 2018. Last month, it launched the desktop version of its browser with a built-in cryptocurrency wallet. The iOS version is currently in beta stage and will be released later this year.

Opera’s Crypto Wallet currently supports ETH and ERC tokens. Opera said that the reason to add another major blockchain onto its platform is part of its strategy to make Web 3 more inclusive and user-friendly.

Last September, Opera partnered with Ledger Capital to grow its blockchain technology initiative. Ledger Capital played an instrumental role in establishing Opera’s partnership with TRON.

The TRX integration with Opera’s Crypto Wallet would enable Opera users to play TRON games and access TRON dApps within the browser.

TRON is a popular, quickly developing blockchain with a swiftly growing dApp ecosystem. We are happy to open our browser to it,” said Krystian Kolondra, EVP at Opera, Head of Browsers. “By opening products to multiple blockchains, we are accelerating the mainstream adoption of Web 3.”

TRON’s ecosystem is growing rapidly and has more than 2.7M TRX accounts and boasts approximately 3M transactions in the span of 24 hours. There are over 400 dApps on the TRON blockchain, with a majority of these related to entertainment use cases. TRON announced a 100 million USD fund, TRON Arcade, dedicate to game applications late last year.

We are excited that Opera, a mainstream browser with hundreds of millions of users, will now seamlessly support TRX and other TRON tokens,” said Justin Sun CEO of TRON.”Soon, Opera users will be able to use dApps on the TRON blockchain.

Opera said that it plans to add support for multiple blockchains within the next 12 months.
