Michael Saylor Backs Metaplanet as It Hits 10,000 BTC Goal Early

Michael Saylor Backs Metaplanet as It Hits 10,000 BTC Goal Early.

Bitcoin evangelist and MicroStrategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor has publicly supported Japanese Bitcoin treasury firm Metaplanet after it reached its 2025 BTC acquisition goal six months early. In a recent tweet on X, Saylor congratulated Metaplanet CEO Simon Gerovich, the team, and shareholders as the company’s shares (MTPLF) surged 26%, climbing from 1,504 JPY to 1,896 JPY following the announcement.

Metaplanet disclosed it had purchased 1,112 BTC for approximately $117.2 million at an average price of $105,435 per Bitcoin. This brings its total holdings to 10,000 BTC, matching its year-end goal far ahead of schedule. The firm’s 2025 Bitcoin yield now stands at 266.1% year-to-date. Looking ahead, Metaplanet plans to accumulate 21,000 BTC by the end of 2026—mirroring Bitcoin’s 21 million total supply cap.

The company recently issued 555 million MS warrants, aiming to raise around 770.9 billion yen (approx. $5.34 billion USD). These funds will be fully allocated to additional Bitcoin acquisitions. Notably, this marks the largest stock acquisition right issuance in Japan’s capital markets and the first MS warrant issued above market price.

Meanwhile, Saylor also hinted at a new MicroStrategy Bitcoin purchase with a cryptic tweet stating “Bigger Dots are ₿etter,” accompanied by a BTC accumulation chart. MicroStrategy currently holds 582,000 BTC, valued at over $62.3 billion as of June 9, 2025.

Both Saylor and Metaplanet continue to lead the charge in corporate Bitcoin adoption, reinforcing BTC’s role as a strategic treasury reserve asset. Their bold moves signal growing institutional confidence amid the ongoing crypto market surge.
