Honeywell has announced a new blockchain-based e-commerce platform which aims to revamp the buying and selling of aviation parts.

Called “GoDirect Trade,” the new platform will improve access to new and used aircraft parts and streamline the process.

“GoDirect Trade is a digital marketplace that brings buyers and sellers in the Aerospace industry together to simplify their experience of buying and selling aerospace parts,” the website reads.

Part of Honeywell's GoDirect family, the platform will allow buyers and sellers to contact one another directly via the platform. In addition, it will offer aviation industry customers transparent pricing as well as the option to buy inventory directly from its website.

GoDirect Trade leverages blockchain technology to ensure every listing includes images and quality documents for the exact part being offered for sale. In addition, every part is immediately available for sale and shipping, with no waiting time to confirm the availability of the listed part from the seller.

Lisa Butters, who is leading the new Honeywell Aerospace venture, noted that currently less than 2.5 percent of all transactions in the aviation industry are done online.

"Up until now, the ability to shop for spare parts online with prices, product images and quality documentation all in one place was unheard of for the aviation industry,” she said. "We are the first marketplace to enable customized seller storefronts, and we are the first to leverage blockchain technology to build trust between the buyer and seller.”

According to the official website, early collaborators include Dassault, Standard Aero, Turbo Resource, H+SAviation, and WG Henschen.
