Enterprise-grade distributed ledger platform Hedera Hashgraph has announced the launch of its mainnet, allowing anyone to create accounts and any developer to build decentralized applications (dapps) on the platform.
According to a press release, 26 dapps and solutions are now running live on the Hedera Hashgraph platform. This includes AdProv, AdsDax, All Over Chain, Armada Chain, Binsignia, Carbon, Certara, Chainlink, Coinsquad, earthtile, EVEC, Hash-hash, Hashing Systems, hbarprice.com, HEX, Intellectual Property Vault, Lonestar Data Technologies, MyEarth.Id, MyHbarWallet, Otrafy, PlayHash, Power Transition, Rejolut, tune.fm, and Zabo.
Amongst these dapps AdsDax has already conducted over two million transactions in 10 days on the Hedera network during live customer campaigns. On the other hand, Certara is running a mirror node to provide insight on transactions on the Hedera network, with the ultimate goal of providing advanced analytics and demonstrate data provenance on health related transactions.
“Today we are thrilled that, through open access, dozens of decentralized applications are now live and running on the mainnet, along with mirror nodes and other parts of the ecosystem designed to expand Hedera’s reach and adoption,” Mance Harmon, co-founder and CEO of Hedera Hashgraph, said. “We thank these teams for being early supporters of Hedera, and are excited to see how each is making their own vision of a fairer, more secure and more distributed internet a reality.”
Hedera said that its network is offering three services – cryptocurrency, smart contract, and file service. The cryptocurrency offering is throttled to 10,000 transactions per second, while smart contract and file service offerings are both currently throttled to 10 transactions per second.
“Hedera plans to increase speed methodically throughout the remainder of 2019, as part of a strategy designed to roll out network services in a measured and responsible way. The recently announced Hedera Consensus Service will be publicly available later this year and is expected to deliver similar performance and speed to Hedera’s cryptocurrency service,” the release said.
Dr. Leemon Baird, Co-Founder and Chief Scientist of Hedera Hashgraph, said council members, which includes IBM, Tata Communications, Boeing, Deutsche Telekom, DLA Piper, Magazine Luiza, Nomura Holdings, and Swisscom Blockchain AG, have also begun running nodes with the launch of the mainnet, which marks “the next step in our journey to become the industry’s most decentralized public network.”
The Hedera Governing Council governs changes to the software run by the Hedera distributed nodes, and brings stability and continued decentralization to the Hedera Hashgraph public ledger. It is designed to comprise of 39 term-limited members at scale, from a variety of industries and geographies.
