The XRP Ledger (XRPL) ecosystem is gearing up for another significant network upgrade as XRP Ledger Operations announced that XRPL version 3.2.0 will soon be deployed. The upcoming release introduces important infrastructure changes and a major software rebranding that will impact validators, node operators, and infrastructure providers across the network.
According to an official announcement shared on June 4, the core software powering the XRP Ledger will undergo a name change from rippled to xrpld. This transition marks a new chapter for the blockchain network and reflects the continued evolution of the XRPL ecosystem.
As part of the migration process, infrastructure providers, validators, and node operators will be required to update their systems before the new XRP Ledger mainnet upgrade is implemented. The XRP Ledger Operations team emphasized that the transition will require technical adjustments and confirmed that a dedicated playbook is being developed to help operators complete the upgrade smoothly.
The announcement included a visual preview of the change, showcasing the new xrpld branding and displaying a version check labeled “xrpld version 3.2.0.” The update highlights both the software rebrand and the upcoming release that will support the next phase of XRP Ledger development.
The news was welcomed by prominent dUNL validator Vet, who stressed the importance of continuous protocol improvements regardless of short-term market fluctuations. He noted that while market sentiment can change rapidly, ongoing enhancements to the XRP Ledger infrastructure provide lasting value for XRP and other assets operating on the network. Vet also expressed appreciation for the efforts of XRPL core developers and their consistent contributions to the ecosystem.
The upcoming XRPL 3.2.0 release follows the successful activation of XRP Ledger version 3.1.3 on May 27 at ledger index 104,507,137. That update introduced the fixCleanup3_1_3 amendment, which was designed to strengthen the network’s long-term reliability and stability.
Following the 3.1.3 deployment, nodes running outdated software versions were required to upgrade in order to continue participating in consensus and network operations. Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz also addressed community questions after the amendments received unanimous approval with a 100% consensus vote.
With XRP Ledger 3.2.0 approaching, the network continues to demonstrate its commitment to modernization, infrastructure improvements, and long-term blockchain reliability.
