As part of its attempt to enter the blockchain industry, Marathon Patent Group recently announced that it had acquired the services of Jesse Lund.
Lund, who previously served as the head of blockchain at IBM, will now have the role of an advisor for the Board of Directors of Marathon.
In the press release discussing the new appointment, it was noted how Marathon intends to leverage Lund's previous experience in order to create a space for itself in the emerging global digital economy. The company intends to do so through his expertise in the field of cryptocurrency, blockchain, and financial services industries.
Chairman and CEO of Marathon, Merrick Okamoto welcomed Lund to the company with open arms. The company’s top boss also expressed appreciation for the skills that the former IBM executive brings to the table.
“We are honored to have someone with Jesse’s experience and understanding of this rapidly changing landscape offer us his unique perspective on business opportunities he believes we should focus on and potential introductions. In addition, we also look forward to working with him as he uses his best efforts to help us monetize our patent portfolio,” Okamoto said.
As for Lund himself, he highlights what his role is going to be with Marathon. It would appear that he will largely be responsible for identifying opportunities for building or acquiring businesses to support the future growth of the company.
“I look forward to working with the team at Marathon to evaluate potential business combinations that we feel could offer a path for accelerated growth and adoption,” he said.
Marathon is a digital asset technology company that mines cryptocurrencies, with a focus on the blockchain ecosystem and the generation of digital assets. It currently operates one mining facility in Quebec.
