Bitcoin (BTC) is showing renewed signs of weakness as its latest recovery attempt loses momentum, raising concerns that the broader downtrend remains intact. After rebounding from its June lows, the world's largest cryptocurrency briefly reclaimed several short-term moving averages, fueling optimism that a sustained rally was underway. However, that bullish outlook has weakened as Bitcoin struggles to hold above the 50-day exponential moving average (EMA).
Currently trading near $63,000, Bitcoin remains trapped in a narrow trading range, with neither buyers nor sellers able to establish clear control. The recent rejection at the 50-day EMA has resulted in a series of lower highs, signaling fading bullish momentum and increasing market uncertainty.
From a technical perspective, Bitcoin continues to face significant resistance. The 100-day EMA sits near $67,000, while the downward-sloping 200-day EMA remains around $72,000. Until BTC reclaims these major resistance levels, the broader market structure continues to favor bears despite several short-lived recovery attempts over the past two months.
Momentum indicators also suggest that buying strength has weakened. Although Bitcoin is not yet in oversold territory, the absence of strong demand leaves room for additional downside if selling pressure intensifies. Trading volume has also declined since the recovery from June lows, indicating reduced market participation and a lack of fresh capital entering the market.
The key support zone to watch is between $60,000 and $61,000. A decisive break below this range could send Bitcoin back toward its June lows and potentially trigger broader selling across the cryptocurrency market.
On the upside, bulls must first reclaim the 50-day EMA before targeting the 100-day EMA near $67,000. Successfully breaking above these resistance levels would improve investor confidence and could mark the beginning of a stronger recovery. Until then, Bitcoin remains vulnerable to further consolidation or another leg lower as traders closely monitor technical signals and overall market sentiment.
