Ripple has locked 700 million XRP tokens in escrow, according to data from Whale Alert. The move is part of Ripple’s long-standing monthly escrow program, which releases 1 billion XRP to maintain a predictable token supply. These tokens are typically used for institutional sales, operational costs, and other company-related activities.

Interestingly, 700 million XRP were returned to escrow this month without a full release of the scheduled 1 billion tokens. This mirrors last month’s action, when a similar amount was locked back into escrow from Ripple’s surplus holdings. Cyprus-based XRP analyst Leonidas Hadjiloizou noted that Ripple used existing XRP from its accounts to initiate the escrows, adding that the company still holds billions of tokens outside escrow.

Despite Ripple’s consistent escrow activity, the price of XRP remains mostly unaffected. According to CoinGecko, the token has dipped only 0.2% over the past 24 hours, reflecting the market’s muted response to escrow-related developments.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse recently mentioned that the company may consider reducing XRP sales in the future, which could help alleviate downward price pressure. Currently, Ripple controls over 40% of the total XRP supply.

In a separate development, Ripple withdrew its cross-appeal against the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) after the agency agreed to request the removal of a court-imposed injunction. The injunction, part of a ruling by Judge Analisa Torres in August, had previously restricted Ripple from selling XRP to institutional clients.

While XRP has a mere 2% chance of reaching a new all-time high this month, according to analysts, the token remains a key asset in the crypto market, with Ripple actively managing its circulation to support long-term utility and stability.
