Pump.fun Launches Revenue Sharing to Boost Solana Memecoin Creator Incentives

Solana-based token issuance platform Pump.fun has unveiled a new revenue-sharing model designed to empower coin creators and promote sustainable community development in the memecoin ecosystem. Starting this week, 50% of PumpSwap’s revenue will be shared with token creators, allowing them to earn 0.05% (5 basis points) of all trading volume tied to their tokens.

This model applies not only to new tokens but also to coins still on Pump.fun’s bonding curve and those that have already transitioned to PumpSwap’s trading pool. For example, a token generating $10 million in trading volume would yield $5,000 in SOL directly to the creator—instantly claimable via Pump.fun’s dashboard.

Founder Alon Cohen emphasized the platform’s long-term vision: “Our #1 goal is to grow the trenches. When the market grows, more people join, communities get stronger, and everyone wins.”

Historically, developers profited primarily by buying their own tokens early and selling them into demand—a system that encouraged pump-and-dump schemes and damaged community trust. By introducing recurring revenue tied to trading activity, Pump.fun hopes to reshape incentives and encourage more creative, transparent, and utility-driven projects, including media tokens and livestream-based communities.

Cohen added, “When devs only benefit by selling, they’re incentivized to dump. Doxxed devs trying something new are automatically seen as malicious. This isn’t sustainable.”

Since its late 2023 debut, Pump.fun has become a breakout success in Solana’s DeFi scene, with tens of thousands of tokens launched and breakout hits like dogwifhat (WIF) reaching billion-dollar market caps. The new revenue-sharing feature marks a pivotal shift toward sustainable growth and healthier token ecosystems.
