Celo Foundation announced on its blog that 50 organizations have joined Celo Alliance for Prosperity.
The Alliance members are all committed to helping ensure that Celo, a decentralized and open-source platform, delivers its mission and that’s to “enable prosperity for everyone” by supporting its development efforts, building infrastructure, implementing desired use cases and integrating Celo assets in their projects or collaborating on education campaigns to improve blockchain technology.
“The goal of the Alliance is to bring organizations together to help with the shared vision of making digital assets more accessible and useful in the real world. Today less than .5% of global citizens benefit from the speed, transparency, utility, and low cost of using blockchain technology,” Celo Foundation announced.
“The Alliance members have a plan to change that and are committed to leveraging the power of Celo’s innovative blockchain technology to create solutions that work across devices, carriers, & countries.”
The members of the Celo Alliance for Prosperity include crypto exchanges Blockchain.com, Coinbase, and Coinplug to name a few. Other members are leading global humanitarian aid organizations, blockchain wallets, blockchain infrastructure providers and highly regarded investments.
The Alliance members aim to pursue a diverse set of use cases including powering mobile and online work, enabling faster and affordable remittances, reducing operational complexities of delivering humanitarian aid, facilitating payments and enabling microlending. The members’ combined reach is over 400 million people worldwide. Meanwhile, humanitarian organizations will use Celo Dollars to reduce costs when sending perishable items or prepaid cards.
“In this open system, any mission-aligned organization can apply to join the Alliance with a commitment to impact. We invite organizations to join us in changing the story in finance and usher in a stronger ecosystem serving markets around the world,” the foundation continued before adding that it is looking forward to seeing more mission-aligned organizations to join its movement for prosperity.
Meanwhile, in February, financial services giant Mastercard, crypto exchange’s Binance’s innovation arm Binance X, Ripples’ Xpring and crypto exchange KuCoin joined Blockchain Education Alliance, a network of industry leaders committed to driving blockchain innovation through education.
