Samsung Electronics just announced its new flagship smartphone Galaxy S20, which will come with crypto storage facilities as supported by previous models, CoinDesk reported.
The South Korean tech giant recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy S20, which will be available starting March 06. Samsung has been majorly promoting the handset's "unprecedented 5G and AI camera technologies" and "a big, intelligent battery."
In its marketing material, the company stated that it has upgraded the mobile phone’s security system, “so what’s yours stay yours.”
“We created a secure processor dedicated to protecting your PIN, password, pattern, and Blockchain Private Key. Combined with the Knox platform, security is infused into every part of your phone, from hardware to software. So private data stays private,” it said.
The crypto private key storage will be available as standard across Samsung's entire S20 range, the report said.
Samsung first added support for storing cryptocurrency private keys last year with the launch of its Galaxy S10. After initial support for ether and ERC-20 tokens, the wallet later added support for bitcoin and TRON.
“Samsung Blockchain Keystore allows security-conscious users to treat their phone like a cold wallet, storing their private information in a dedicated secure zone,” Samsung said.
In July, the company introduced a blockchain software developer kit that provides a full set of functions to meet the needs for developing decentralized apps (or DApps).
