Brazil's B3 stock exchange has expanded its regulated cryptocurrency derivatives lineup by launching options on bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH) and solana (SOL) futures, giving investors new tools to hedge digital asset exposure and trade market volatility.
The new crypto derivatives became available for trading on July 6, according to a circular issued by B3. The exchange now offers call and put options linked to bitcoin futures contracts denominated in Brazilian reais, while ether and solana futures options are based on U.S. dollar-denominated contracts.
Unlike spot cryptocurrency trading, the options settle into the underlying futures contracts rather than the digital assets themselves. B3 emphasized that the products do not require the custody, transfer or management of physical cryptocurrencies, making them a regulated alternative for investors seeking crypto exposure.
Trading follows B3's derivatives market schedule, operating independently from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. local time. Options that expire in the money are exercised automatically unless the holder chooses to prevent execution before expiration.
The new offerings are designed to serve institutional investors, traders and asset managers looking to manage risk, speculate on price movements or implement advanced trading strategies without relying on offshore cryptocurrency options platforms.
The launch marks another milestone in B3's broader expansion into regulated digital asset products. The exchange has steadily increased its crypto-related offerings, previously introducing bitcoin futures, ether and solana futures, bitcoin options and preparations for bitcoin-linked event contracts.
B3's bitcoin futures are priced in Brazilian reais, while ether and solana futures use U.S. dollars. All three contracts track Nasdaq cryptocurrency indexes, providing standardized pricing benchmarks within Brazil's regulated financial market.
As demand for regulated crypto investment products continues to grow, B3's latest launch strengthens Brazil's position in the digital asset market by offering investors more sophisticated tools to trade bitcoin, ether and solana within a regulated exchange environment.
