Apple will unveil a new developer update called Cryptokit at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).
The news was revealed on Monday by Apple engineer Frederic Jacobs on Twitter. He described Cryptokit as “a fast and secure Swift API to perform cryptographic operations.”

In a session scheduled for June 5 at the ongoing event called “Cryptography and Your Apps,” Apple will launch Cryptokit, a new tool that will allow developers to handle tasks to build more secure apps instead of handling them in lower-level interfaces. It can also be used to carry out cryptographic operations such as hashing, key generation, and encryption.
According to its documentation, Apple Cryptokit can compute and compare cryptographically secure digests, use public-key cryptography to create and evaluate digital signatures and perform key exchange, and generate symmetric keys and use them in operations including message authentication and encryption.
“System frameworks encrypt both data at rest and data in transit in a transparent way for you. This functionality is available by simple setting an attribute. However you may want to do more to protect your users’ data,” the event description reads.
“Cryptokit is a new Swift framework that makes it easier and safer than ever to perform cryptographic operations, whether you simply need to compute a hash or are implementing a more advanced authentication protocol.”
The Cryptokit, which is still in beta, will be rolled out as an iOS 13 update.
Last month, Samsung also revealed its plan to introduce cryptocurrency and blockchain functions to its budget Galaxy models. The feature is only currently integrated into its Galaxy S10.
