Prometheum is positioning itself as a major player in the future of tokenized finance by focusing on regulated distribution channels instead of crypto exchanges. The New York-based digital asset infrastructure company believes the next stage of blockchain-based finance will depend on broker-dealers and registered investment advisers (RIAs) rather than crypto-native trading platforms.

According to Prometheum co-founder and co-CEO Aaron Kaplan, tokenization has already solved the issuance side of digital securities, but the industry still lacks efficient distribution to mainstream investors. The company argues that without access to traditional brokerage networks, tokenized securities will struggle to achieve widespread adoption.

To address this gap, Prometheum recently launched Digital Brokerage Solutions through Prometheum Capital. The platform offers correspondent clearing, custody, and trading services that allow broker-dealers to provide tokenized securities and other digital assets directly through standard brokerage accounts. The company aims to help traditional financial firms enter the growing blockchain finance sector without relying on crypto exchanges.

Prometheum operates several SEC-registered and FINRA-member entities that support the full lifecycle of digital securities, including issuance, custody, trading, settlement, and clearing. The company also joined the DTCC Industry Working Group, which is developing tokenization services for traditional financial markets.

Kaplan believes blockchain technology will eventually modernize capital markets by enabling faster settlement, broader investor access, and more efficient distribution of financial products. Prometheum’s strategy centers on integrating tokenized assets into existing Wall Street infrastructure while maintaining regulatory compliance and investor protections.

As more broker-dealers and RIAs explore blockchain-based financial products, Prometheum expects increased demand for regulated digital asset infrastructure. The company believes the future of securities trading will move onchain, with tokenized real-world assets becoming a significant part of global capital markets.
