VivoPower has announced a groundbreaking partnership with South Korea’s K-Weather to develop WeatherCoin, the world’s first weather-based cryptocurrency. The token will be backed by XRP, aiming to bring stability and real-world utility to its launch. As part of the collaboration, VivoPower will invest $5 million for a 20% equity stake in K-Weather, marking a strategic move to integrate blockchain with climate data. In return, K-Weather plans to acquire VivoPower shares, making it the first publicly listed South Korean company to gain direct exposure to XRP and potentially Ripple Labs. Both firms aim to finalize the agreement by November 30, 2025.

Through its VivoPower Federation division, the company intends to create a network centered on clean energy and tokenized finance. K-Weather, which dominates roughly 90% of South Korea’s weather data market, brings decades of expertise in meteorological and air-quality information to the partnership. CEO Dong Sik Kim described the initiative as a major leap forward for blockchain innovation in Asia, noting the intention to appoint Adam Traidman, former Ripple Labs board member, to K-Weather’s board. Kim emphasized that both companies share a vision for expanding blockchain tokenization and digital assets.

This alliance follows VivoPower’s October capital raise of $19 million through an equity offering at $6.05 per share. The funds will bolster its XRP reserves and support its Digital Asset Tokenization (DAT) initiative.

Meanwhile, XRP adoption continues to grow across financial platforms. Flare Network’s FXRP stablecoin recorded over $120 million minted within two months, and Evernorth Holdings debuted on Nasdaq under the ticker XRPN, amassing over $1 billion in XRP holdings. Additionally, Bitnomial became the first U.S. exchange to accept XRP and stablecoins as margin collateral, further integrating Ripple’s ecosystem into global finance.
