DragonEx, a Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange, suffered a major hack on March 24. The total amount of crypto assets stolen remains unknown.
The exchange made the announcement via its official Telegram channel. It said:
“On March 24th, DragonEx has encountered attacks from hackers, our users’ crypto assets and Platform crypto assets were transferred and stolen. Part of the assets were retrieved back, and we will do our best to retrieve back the rest of stolen assets.”
DragonEx said that it has informed judicial administrations in Estonia, Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong about the attack, and said:
“We’re assisting policemen to do investigation. All platform services will be closed and the accurate assets loss recovery situation will be announced in a week. For the loss caused to our users, DragonEx will take the responsibility no matter what.”
In an update posted today, the exchange said that the Hong Kong Cyber Security and Technology Crime Investigation Bureau has set up a special investigation team to investigate and added that it has also submitted the Report to China Mainland Police.
DragonEx’s Telegram admin has also provided wallet addresses for 20 cryptocurrencies to which the stolen funds have been transferred, CoinDesk reported. Affected cryptocurrencies include bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH), XRP, litecoin (LTC), EOS (EOS), NEM (XEM), TRON(TRX), Stellar Lumens (XLM), Ethereum Classic (ETC), NEO, ABBC, Bitcoin Cash ABC (BCHABC), Monero (XMR), Cardano (ADA), Ontology (ONT), Bytom (BTM), Asch (XAS), ICON (ICX), QTUM, and USDT.
Furthermore, DragonEx has also contacted with cryptocurrency exchanges worldwide and keeping them updated with the latest information. The admin said that stolen crypto assets that have been transferred by the hackers to Huobi and gate.io have already been blocked.
“With efforts and help form all strength, part of the assets are freezed but still large part of the stolen assets are still flowing fast. DragonEx will try best to retrieve back more assets. Meanwhile, we're grateful to all exchanges that offer us the support, e.g Coinbene, Gate, Bitmart, OKex, Huobi, Binance, Bittrex, Bitforex,” it said.
DragonEx also said that it will announce the accurate loss data in one week, and provide a solution.
