SEC Acknowledges Fidelity's Solana ETF Filing Amid Market Slump

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has officially acknowledged Fidelity’s application for a Solana exchange-traded fund (ETF), signaling growing institutional interest in the altcoin despite current market turbulence.

Fidelity, one of the world’s largest asset managers with approximately $4.9 trillion in assets under management, entered the Solana ETF race in late March. Its move follows similar ETF filings from major firms such as Grayscale, 21Shares, and Canary Capital, which were acknowledged by the SEC in February. The increasing number of filings highlights a potential shift toward mainstream acceptance of Solana (SOL) in the U.S. investment landscape.

Despite this bullish development, Solana’s price has taken a hit. According to CoinGecko, SOL is down more than 12% in the last 24 hours, reflecting a broader crypto market sell-off. However, optimism remains high among investors. On Polymarket, prediction market participants currently assign an 83% chance that a Solana ETF will gain SEC approval by the end of 2025, suggesting confidence in the regulatory viability of such products.

The growing interest in Solana ETFs, especially from heavyweight institutions like Fidelity, is seen as a long-term bullish signal for the ecosystem. If approved, a Solana ETF could significantly boost institutional adoption and liquidity, further validating SOL as a serious contender in the blockchain space.
