Franklin Templeton Launches Bitcoin & Ethereum ETF on Cboe BZX

Franklin Templeton has introduced the Franklin Crypto Index ETF (EZPZ) on the Cboe BZX Exchange, offering investors exposure to Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). The ETF, weighted 82% BTC and 18% ETH, tracks market capitalization and may expand to include more cryptocurrencies pending regulatory approval.

With a 0.19% sponsor fee waived until August, EZPZ aims to attract investors seeking low-cost access to digital assets. Coinbase (NASDAQ: COIN) serves as the ETF’s custodian, ensuring secure asset management. This launch follows the approval of Franklin Templeton’s and Hashdex’s crypto index ETFs by the SEC on December 20, signaling growing institutional adoption of cryptocurrency investment products.

David Mann, Franklin Templeton’s Global Head of ETF Product and Capital Markets, highlighted EZPZ as a simple and efficient way to invest in the largest blockchain ecosystems. Roger Bayston, Head of Digital Assets, emphasized blockchain's potential in shaping the future of finance and data economies.

Franklin Templeton has been expanding its crypto offerings, having launched the EZBC spot Bitcoin ETF in January 2024 and the EZET spot Ethereum ETF in July 2024. The EZBC ETF has attracted $443.8 million in net inflows with $692.2 million in AUM, while EZET has $37.6 million in inflows and $33 million in AUM, reflecting strong investor interest in crypto ETFs.

Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart praised the ETF’s EZPZ ticker, calling it "a great ticker." With institutional demand rising, Franklin Templeton’s latest ETF launch reinforces the mainstream adoption of crypto investments in regulated markets.
