Figment Joins Blockchain Association to Shape U.S. Crypto Policy

Figment, a leading staking infrastructure provider with over $15B in staked assets, has joined the Blockchain Association, the top U.S. crypto industry trade group. This move highlights Figment’s commitment to influencing regulations supporting institutional crypto adoption.

As institutional demand for protocol staking grows, Figment aims to help establish clear guidelines for staking, particularly regarding exchange-traded products (ETPs). Blockchain Association CEO Kristin Smith welcomed Figment, emphasizing the importance of staking clarity for U.S. digital asset policy.

Figment’s advocacy will target key areas: ETP staking inclusion, regulatory frameworks, protocol staking education, and cross-jurisdictional policy alignment. The company aims to shape policies benefiting its 700+ institutional clients, including asset managers, exchanges, and custodians.

Proof-of-Stake (PoS) networks, with a $633 billion market cap, are a sustainable alternative to Proof-of-Work mining. Figment continues educating U.S. policymakers on PoS staking’s role in securing decentralized networks. The approval of Ethereum ETFs in May 2024 marked a milestone for PoS networks.

Jennie Levin, Figment’s Chief Regulatory & Strategy Officer, emphasized protocol staking’s importance in blockchain security and expressed excitement for collaborating with industry leaders.

Through SAB 122, Figment also helps traditional banks explore staking opportunities within regulated frameworks. The company's non-custodial staking services include reward tracking, API integrations, and slashing protection.
