The Algorand Foundation has announced a new project, the Kare Survivor Wallet, in collaboration with the American Red Cross, aimed at enhancing the delivery of disaster aid assistance through a user-friendly and transparent platform. The Algorand blockchain will provide the necessary security and scalability for the project, which St Vincent de Paul is already using to distribute supplies more efficiently to families affected by disasters in Tennessee and Florida.
Families impacted by disasters can use the mobile app to confirm their identity, receive a credit allocation, and redeem the credits for supply deliveries from partners like Amazon within 24 hours.
The Algorand blockchain can handle over 6,000 transactions per second while maintaining decentralization and security, making it an ideal solution for distribution. The Kare Survivor Wallet utilizes the strength of the Algorand blockchain and provides a seamless user experience.
The decentralized ledger of Algorand documents all transactions securely, ensuring transparency and accountability for funds. Smart contracts can automate aid distribution based on predefined criteria, reducing the likelihood of delays and human error, enabling direct fund transfers, and eliminating the need for middlemen, thereby accelerating the process.
